Residential Design by Roanld Cheung Cheuk Man

Inspired by the playground of childhood and hide and seek game. Every child loves to have their own secret base. Therefore, when planning the design, the concept of a playground was used in the child's room and reserved some space for the children as a secret base.

Design Unique Properties: Due to the narrow living environment in Hong Kong, it is necessary to use different spaces to integrate different areas. The sense of space is greatly increased and the overall feeling becomes completely different. Most of the space is shared, and there is no waste of space. There are about three to five uses in the same space. The dining room is also a kitchen space and to play music with friends. The living room is the family fun space and also the children's room entrance and the slide exit.

Design Interaction: The mission is to innovate a concept about childhood. Firstly, creating a high quality, safe and funny child furniture interior space, structure. Every detail of the design and planning, from the selection of furnishings to wall and tile colors, has an enduring effect on the development of children.

Design Location and Timeframe: The project started in August 2018 in Torino and finished in Dec 2018 in Hong Kong

Design Research: "Once upon a time" is a stock phrase used to introduce a narrative of past events. The design concept is to let the children grow up, remember how their childhood in the past. Design inspired by the playground, the color of the design is blue sky and white clouds.

Design Challenges: The hardest part is in the narrow living environment to create enough space for all family members.

Design Notes: Due to the narrow living environment in Hong Kong, it is necessary to use different spaces to integrate different areas.
